Matthew's Birthday

Matthew had his choice of a number of five star restaurants to pick from for his birthday dinner. Guess what he picked. The PALACE -- well the Palace Diner...

Hey, at least it was not McDonald's.

Matt and Miranda started the evening off with some drinks.......

Then some fine apps...

Lemon Drops these are not!!

A meal fit for a king - Bacon, eggs and home fries. Yea Baby...

Matt cleared his plate by the end of the night.

No Birthday would not be complete without Ice Cream and a candle. The staff sang Happy Birthday for Matthew.

oooooooh boy, this is going to be good!!!

Homeward bound to open some presents....

Miranda entered the Science Fair at her school. She did it on putting out fire with CO2. She wanted to make sure that it was perfect, so she scripted her presentation. Once she had it perfect, we printed out her script on index cards.

The text of this blog is the script that Miranda came up with.

My project is about putting out fire with Carbon Dioxide.

Their are three parts to make a fire, they are:
Fuel, Heat, Oxygen.
If you take away any one, the fire will go out.

For example if you away the Fuel you will not have a Fire.
If you take away the Heat with water, you will not have a fire.
For my expreiment I will be talking away the oxygen with Carbon Dioxide (CO2)

I will be making Carbon Dioxide by mixing Vinegar with Baking Soda.
The reason it puts out the file is because Carbon Dioxide is heaver then oxygen.
It is now making Carbon Dioxide in the jar.
I can show you with the demonstration

When I start, the jar is filled with oxygen.
Since the CO2 is heaver, it pushes the oxygen up and out of the jar making the flame go out.
I can now show you a shot video since I am not allowed to use fire at the Science Fair.

Getting my certificate and metal for entering the Science Fair from my teacher.

Eye Doctors

Today was eye doctor day. Matthew said Miranda could go first so he could watch. As you can tell, Miranda was thrilled with the decision.

As always, Miranda did very well on her eye exam. She has better then perfect vision.

You may notice Matthew is sporting his new dew, or should I say, lack of it. We both got hair cuts yesterday, but he went for a #1 super short buzz.
Matthew having fun playing the "E" game. Since he does not know all his letters, he points in the direction of the "E".

Matthew was so good with the dilation drops, not a tear. Just after getting his drops Matthew was crawling on the floor, he could not see. He tried looking at a book and could not see a thing. Miranda on the other hand can read and write with her eyes dilated. She says she has magic eyes, I'm starting to believe her.

Miranda checked out A-OK after the doctor checked her eyes.

Matthew did not do so well, he is far-sided. Not ready for glasses, but we need to kept an eye on him (pun intended). Next year they will see if he has any improvement.

After the eye exam, we headed out for the buy one, get one half price at the shoe store. Miranda got some cool sneeks and Matthew pick out a nice pair of hiking shoes.

We finished off the day at Subway with Turkey all around.
